Fencers at practice

Classes

When you take a class at RIFAC, you enroll for a session. One session is generally six weeks long, with a one-hour class meeting once per week.

Classes are structured for the course of the session and are not "drop-in" classes. One class meeting is structured to flow into the next to build proper fencing skills.

Try it for free at one of our popular Open Houses and Free Workshops, held every other month at our RIFAC/East Bay location.  Click here for more info and for registration.

At RIFAC you'll never have the awkward experience of being dropped into the middle of an ongoing class; every student starts the session at the same place.

Over the course of the session students can expect to be introduced to new material each class meeting. Two class meetings, generally the third and sixth week of each session for classes after Beginner, are used entirely for fencing, giving students a chance to put skills learned during the session into use. The sixth or final class meeting of the session is used for an electric fencing tournament for students.

Any time during the session, students may enroll for the next session's class. A 10% discount for the next session of classes is offered to all enrolled students in the 4th week of classes. Most classes fill to capacity before the start of the session—enrolling early ensures a place in class.
